Zachary George Roerig was born in Montpelier, Ohio to Daniel and Andrea Roerig in 1985. He attended Montpelier High school where he played football and was also a wrestler. While growing up, Zach worked for his dad and grandpa at Fackler Monuments Co, a place where they make gravestones. Zach also has a younger sister named Emily who was born in 1989. While Zach is technically bi-coastal, he will always consider New York his home.
Among other roles, Zach began his acting career with a guest role in “The Guiding Light”, the oldest soap opera worldwide. Later he acted in 274 episodes of the TV-series “As the World Turns”, in 13 episodes of “One Life to Live” and he played Cash in the TV-series “Friday Night Lights”. Since 2009, from the beginning of the TV-series, Zach plays Matt Donovan in “The Vampire Diaries”.

Matthew "Matt" Donovan is the ex-boyfriend of Caroline Forbes and Elena Gilbert and also a medium. After the death of her parents, Elena broke up with Matt, although he still cared deeply about her. Throughout the series, Caroline and Matt begin dating and he encouraged her to become a more caring, kind, and selfless young woman. Matt is a member of the Donovan Family.

Zach Roerig will attend Bloody Diaries Convention, with his colleagues Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Daniel Gillies. He is looking forward to Germany and his German and European fans.
